Crafting a Better Future with the Mastery of Textiles -

On 19 December 2025, the event “Crafting a Better Future with the Mastery of Textiles” brought together artisans, vocational education representatives, chambers of crafts, and private sector actors at the House of Culture Xhejmali Berisha in Prizren, Kosovo. The event highlighted the profile of handicrafts, aimed to enhance the visibility and image of the crafts sector in Kosovo, and emphasized its role as a key economic driver in both Albania and Kosovo.

The program opened with remarks by Rezarta Ajazaj, Head of the Albania–Kosovo Project Office, HWK Koblenz, followed by a speech from the Mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, and Afrim Tejeci, President of the Chamber of Crafts Prizren. A strategic panel discussion then explored policy frameworks, vocational education, gender inclusion, market access, and the integration of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Panelists included heads of national chambers of crafts, vocational education authorities, leading artisans, and business sector representatives, reflecting a broad range of perspectives on the future of the sector.

Participants explored mannequins dressed in creations by artisans from Albania and Kosovo, who presented both traditional and innovative works. Students from the vocational school 11 Marsi in Prizren also contributed by preparing dresses, some made with recycled materials, highlighting the importance of sustainable and green practices in the textile sector. The event also featured a fashion show showcasing these creations, offering a visual journey from tradition to innovation.

The event was widely covered by local and national media. Participants gave very positive feedback and emphasized the need to organize further activities of this kind. By bringing together key stakeholders and showcasing the creativity, innovation, and economic potential of the craft sector, the event successfully strengthened its image in Kosovo and highlighted the vital role of artisans and young designers in cultural, economic, and sustainable development.
