Exploring Cooperation Opportunities in the Textile Handcraft Sector in Prizren

On 11 November 2025, a project visit took place in Prizren to explore new opportunities for cooperation in the textile handcraft sector and to plan upcoming cross-border activities between Albania and Kosovo.

During the visit, Rezarta Ajazaj, Head of the Project Office for Albania and Kosovo, and Jetona Myteveli, Director of the Balance Center and expert partner for the textile sector, met with Afrim Tejeci, Head of the Oda of Prizren, and Sejxhane Celina, representative of the Women’s Department of the Oda of Prizren. The meeting focused on identifying concrete ways to strengthen collaboration in the textile field—one of the most significant traditional handcraft sectors in the region.

The program also included visits to four artisan businesses, most of which are led and managed by women. The majority of them led and managed by women, are actively preserving traditional craftsmanship while producing high-quality handmade textile products that embody the cultural heritage and creativity of the Prizren region.

An additional visit was made to the “11th of March” High School, which educates young professionals in fashion and design. The school will be an active partner in the project’s next activity, planned for December, which will serve as an exchange platform between artisans and institutions from Albania and Kosovo.

In Albania, the project continues with a study on the economic potential of the artisan textile sector, exploring opportunities for growth and innovation. Similar activities are also being discussed and planned in Kosovo, paving the way for the creation of a regional platform for exchange, learning, and cooperation among artisans and institutions across borders.

This visit further strengthened the partners’ shared commitment to empowering artisans, promoting women’s participation, and fostering sustainable cross-border collaboration in the textile handcraft sector.
